SUMMARY:Drones Advanced Manufacturing event
DESCRIPTION:Ian Sinclair\, Snr Innovation and AI Analyst\, with UniSC\, delivered three sessions for the advanced manufacturing event using the Tello swarm. Ian provided an AI inspired theme “AI assisted coding to generate swarm patterns”. The delivery consisted of using a LLM to review a previous python code and getting the AI to produce a new swarming pattern\, then testing it live with the audience. Ian talked through the advances in LLM and coding capabilities and the benefits of using computational thinking. This was an extremely effective way of demonstrating both UniSC capabilities and where technology is heading.

The Da Vinci Decathlon is a celebration of critical thinking\, creativity\, and collaboration. Please save the date and consider joining us for the 2024 competition. \n  \nEvent Details: Regional da Vinci Decathlon  \nDa Vinci Regional website here \nDates: \n1st May (Years 5-7) \n2nd May (Years 8-11) \n  \nLocation: Sunshine Coast Grammar School \nTime: 8:00am – 3:30pm \n  \nWhat is the Da Vinci Decathlon? The Da Vinci Decathlon is an annual academic competition that challenges students to explore and demonstrate their knowledge and skills across ten disciplines: Art and Poetry\, English\, Science\, Mathematics\, Ideation\, Engineering\, Code Breaking\, Creative Producers\, Cartography\, and General Knowledge\, all framed within the 2024 overarching concept of ‘Technology and Innovation’. \n  \nFocus Areas: \nCritical Thinking: Participants are tasked with solving complex problems and engaging in analytical thinking\, emphasising the role of technology in modern problem-solving. \nCreativity: The competition encourages creative thinking and problem-solving in the context of technological advancements. \nCollaboration: The Da Vinci Decathlon is a team-based competition\, where groups of eight students work together or individually to solve questions\, design solutions and showcase ideas. DESCRIPTION:Our Community Robotics Clubs are a multi week program to teach School Students in Years 5\, 6 and 7 to learn the art of building a competition robot\, how to code and problem solve\, and the skills to compete in robotics competitions. In 2024 the program will cost $165 (including GST) per student and includes a multi week program commencing in school Term 2 (18 April 2024) and continuing into Term 3\, access to Expert Presenters\, robotics equipment\, access to code\, laptops\, a Club T Shirt to wear\, and team entry to RoboRave.  Teams will compete at the RoboRave competition\, which takes place over two days 13/14 July 2024 at the UniSC Arena at Sippy Downs. \nThis year the program will be held on Thursday afternoons\, after school (2 hours)\, for 11 lessons\, plus one day competition at RoboRave.
