My primary school years are a little while ago now…all I can remember is hanging out with friends and being into sports (swimming, touch football and triathlons).
Q: Name of the town you went to high school?
Parkside, Qld
Q: Which were your favourite subjects in high school?
Maths, Humanities and Social Sciences
Q: How would you describe yourself when you were in High school?
Honestly I probably didn’t enjoy school that much (not sure if you can include that but I’m sure it’s relatable). Again friends and sport were my main interests outside of school. My sport was Motorcross though which was a little different for a girl back then.
Why did you want to become a presenter?
In my previous career, there was a big focus on increasing employment females in engineering and project management, as this supports diversity in thinking, designing and delivering solutions for our communities. I like how using coding and robotics can engage young females in STEM subjects. I wanted to gain more teaching experience in these areas to support increasing employment into engineering and project management roles to create diversity.
What do you like about being a presenter?
Challenging the students to think about how they need to use design & planning and their collaborative skills in the RoboRave compo. It’s not all about the building and coding.
If you could offer students in primary school and high school one piece of advice, what would it be?
Choose subjects that interest you not what your friends are doing or what is popular. I did this with HASS and then studied Geography at university for my undergrad. It’s meant I’ve always enjoyed the work I do, I stay curious and always want to learn more.
