Drones are the way of the future, and it’s our current school students who will be in charge of flying and programming them. In a bid to be crowned the regions’ next drone champions, students from select schools are going head to head in the 2023 MindSET-do Tournament of Drones in Term 4, hosted by UniSC Sunshine Coast. The Tournament is a one-day event, designed to test students’ teamwork, problem-solving skills, creativity, technical flight skills, and analytical thinking. This is the first competition of its kind at UniSC and will provide bragging rights for one team as the champion of MindSET-do Tournament of Drones. While students will gain points across various activities during the day, the deciding factor is often the problem solving task. This involves using their analytic and coding skills to solve a hypothetical data collection task. It’s important for students to practise with real world applications.
