Q: What further study/qualifications did you complete after high school?

Nursing, which has helped with community engagement and education. ACDC License for Herbicide control methods and Pest Controllers License for Pesticide control methods and Coxwains License for Boat operations.

Various Biosecurity Pest Plant short courses and Vector / Mosquito Morphology short courses. Multiple Equipment courses, including drone operations, 4WD operations, GIS, Quad Bike operations.

Q: What is the name of your STEM career?

Drone Operations Pest and Vector Monitoring and Control.

Q: What attracted you to this STEM career?

The use of multiple techniques and methodologies to educate, survey, administer and determine treatment efficacy in regards to Vector Control within the community.

Q: What is some of the typical work you do in this career?

My work consists of using Drones to survey and map potential Vector breeding grounds on the Sunshine Coast. The use of vehicles, Boats, 4WDs, Quad Bikes to ascertain Vector breeding potential and coordinate Helicopter aerial treatments.

Q: What do you love about your job?

I enjoy the variety of work and worksites in my occupation. My work ranges from Mapping and Microscopy with Identification and Data Collection in the Lab to in the field work with on ground surveillance, both physically collecting data and with the use of Drones and automatic surveillance Cameras.
