I studied a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Computer Science) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Majoring in Accounting).

Software Engineering

Q: What attracted you to this STEM career?

I get to solve problems and make solutions so others can live easier and reach further. This is regardless of where they are located or where I am located. Additionally, STEM can be applied to any industry, there is no bounds to Software engineering.

Q: What is some of the typical work you do in this career?

My day to day is always varied. I usually collaborate with others to scope out a problem or investigate a new feature. We then break off into smaller groups to start implementing and coding that solution. However, I can’t forget to mention how social my work is – whether that be in a technical project or whether it be going for a morning coffee, or grabbing lunch.

Q: What do you love about your job?

No matter where I or my customers sit, I can make their life better.

Try whatever you love and don’t be afraid or deterred by if it is difficult. Of course it will never be smooth sailing! There will be challenges and it will be difficult – but that is what makes the successes even more memorable and rewarding.
